About

Women Who Dared is dedicated to recognizing and honoring women who have taken a personal risk that furthered the advancement of equal opportunity and status for women.

We believe that by giving attention to women who have taken risks, which has furthered the advancement of equal opportunity and status for women, we are encouraging the elimination of prejudice and discrimination.

Women Who Dared, a non-profit corporation, was founded in Fairbanks, Alaska in August 2014 by Diann Darnall in collaboration with Merle Johnson and Jill Marshall.

Our friend and founding Board MemberMerle Johnson passed on from this world in March 2019. Merle loved sports and was an avid supporter of women’s athletics. Her smile and laughter is missed.

WWD Board Members: Joining Diann Darnall and Jill Marshall on the Board is Coleen Turner, a legendary community volunteer.

We continue to build our website, and looking forward to hearing more stories of incredible women who have taken daring action and made a positive difference.  Keep checking back. Women Who Dared is just getting traction!

Thank You!
